Who Is This Mrs. McIntire Anyway?
Dear Parents,
I’d like to take a moment to tell you a little about myself. I live in Chambersburg with my incredible husband, Scott and our two fantastic girls, Ellie and Maggie. I am a graduate of Waynesboro Area Senior High School, Hagerstown Junior College, and Millersville University. I earned my B.A. in Psychology in 1993. Since 1995, I’ve been employed within the child care profession. I began working with children at Noah’s Ark Child Care Center as a Teacher’s Aide. It was then that I realized I wanted to teach.
In 2000, I began substitute teaching and fulfilling my requirements for a PA Teaching Certificate. I received my Certificate in April of 2001 from Wilson College. After substituting for a few more months, I got a first grade position at Hooverville. I taught first grade for 17 years and in 2018, I began teaching kindergarten. I am thrilled to be a part of the Hooverville family.
My hope, my mission as a teacher, is to instill a love of learning in my students. I will do everything I can to them to believe in themselves and work to their potential. I will help raise the self-esteem of my students and empower them to reach their own goals and make good choices. I will treat my students with respect and nurture them to become self-disciplined and compassionate individuals.
I struggled for a bit to decide what I want to be when I grow up, but I really feel a sense of being comfortable in my own skin since I’ve begun teaching. I won’t tell you it’s not stressful, but it does feel right. I want you to know that I am doing what I love and I am really enjoying your children. I’m looking forward to a wonderful year.
Thanks!
Jan McIntire
